Bless SPN for this scene. Bless Carver for turning the audience’s own preconceived notions on their head. Bless him for the archery symbolism that ties neatly back to not only the theme of hearts, but also Artemis whom we saw fall in love inappropriately according to the precepts of Olympus. Bless the two plaid-wearing, bearded scruffy men who are stand-ins for Hunters and Dean’s notion of über masculinity who also fall in love, but this time with heaven’s express and noteworthy nudge. Bless this rare (the cupid did say her arrows were being directed less and less frequently) and heaven-mandated event to be one of the last things heaven does before it stops meddling in the affairs of humans. Bless this event for happening in front of Dean and Cas. Bless Cas for his nonchalance and easy acceptance and Dean’s pause of consideration. Bless this neon sign toward Destiel becoming definitively canon.
UGGGGHHHHHHHH. MY HEART. I both loved it and hated it for different reasons. I’m scared to see what next season holds, and I’m also really sad that they decided to really cast aside the friendship between Dean and Cas so much in this season. But at least we FINALLY addressed the issue between Sam and Dean. We’ve needed that confrontation all damn season. I don’t want to wait another four months for the next episode. >:[
Last night I got so excited about this post that I made a SPN finale BINGO.
Let’s be real, we’ll be lucky if there’s any spaces left on this board by the end of the opening credits.
Interesting… Some of these are definite, we just know it. Though the Crowley being a fallen angel one would have to retcon the show to be real, since Crowley has possessed people without permission before, and angels always need permission. So I’m thinking that theory is off. The others, though, I’m thinking like 80% of them will probably happen. This episode is going to be depressing.
I love this man so much. I have a feeling that if I ever meet a guy who actually works well enough with my weirdness to marry me, it will be someone like him. (It makes me really, really sad, though, that people have made Misha feel uncomfortable and nervous about answering Destiel questions because they accuse him of queer-baiting. People seriously need to shut up. If anyone is awesome and supportive of the gay community on that show, it’s Misha.)
The middle two were left intentionally open in a way that satisfies any loose ends the show brought up, but the first and last were never resolved at all. I keep wondering if they’re going to go back to the whole anti-christ thing, but it doesn’t seem to be on the agenda. But out of all four, I could even forgive that one. I just don’t get the deal with Adam. I mean, really? REALLY? Bobby never belonged in hell. This was a perfect opportunity to get Adam, but instead they stick Bobby in there? And Sam and Dean didn’t even mention Adam when they found out about the second trial. If it’s just a matter of the actor being unavailable, can you at least throw us a bone and say he somehow got into heaven? At this point, there will be absolutely nothing left of Adam to save. Since every month on Earth is ten years in hell, Adam has been in hell for, what, like 4800 years? Anyway, I know I’m far from the only person who’s irritated by that, but if they do bring the character back and he’s been in hell this whole time, I’m guessing we’ll get a magic fix, like with Cas every time he dies.
This episode pissed me off, because Dean was like, “I’m not leaving you alone!” And Bobby was like, “Don’t worry, I’ll watch him.” And then five minutes later, Bobby was like, “Hey, sorry, gotta leave you all by yourself, but I’m sure nothing will happen just because you’ve been hallucinating nonstop.” But then no one ever mentioned that Bobby promised to watch Sam and that Sam could have been killed in more ways than one. Just, wtf. These characters beat themselves up if they forget to pick up the milk on their last grocery run, but something like that, not even a “my bad” from Bobby?
A long time ago, my friend saw a car that had a plain, black and white bumper sticker, and all it said was, “I HATE HORSES.” I think I’ve finally discovered who owned that car.
man it’s weird that spn fandom is so female heavy. i go to spn cons and see like 6 dudes in the house. okay we got some sexy guys on our show and sometimes it’s really feelingsy and destiel gets in your face, but wow dudes we have guns and demons…
I’m not one for reinforcing the idea that only one gender should like a certain thing, but that being said, for whatever reason it always surprises me when a guy is into Supernatural. It just seems like a show that was designed for girls. I mean, it’s great if guys are into it, but when a guy says he watches it, it sort of catches me off guard in the way that it might if he were to say he really loves Sex in the City. Someone told me that Supernatural was originally a show geared toward the typical male demographic (I’ll rant about that another day), but then the fangirls took over, I guess. The thing is, I really appreciate having a show that feels like women are the target audience that isn’t about freaking romance. In fact, romance is such a distant element. I can’t even think of another show off the top of my head where the target audience is women, and the show isn’t about some guy meeting some chick, and them immediately feeling an intense drive to put their genitals together, because no man and woman can be friends unless one of them is gay, or the girl isn’t hot. Right?
Anyway, this is turning into a rant. Sorry. I just got to thinking about how much sense it makes that guys would like it when you think about it that way, but for some reason it just doesn’t seem like a show for them. Hm.
I'm a writer of many genres, but what I release online is almost always what you might call yaoi, m/m, guy on guy, or gay romance. Not that my stories themselves are necessarily classified as romances. Here you'll find any projects I'm actively working on, as well as posts related to my current interests. Right now, I'm really invested in Supernatural, but I also post things related to yaoi in general, feminism, people's rights, and a handful of other shows/movies that I'm into.
Please note, I'll happily follow back any of my readers who would like to add me, but if you like to post disturbing images such as animal abuse/death/torture (whether it's real or fake), or graphic self-harm photos, etc. I'm afraid I won't be able to add you! I'm super sensitive to that sort of thing. Sorry!
